Definitions of Jargon and Abbreviations.

A = Amp(s) a measure of Electrical Current.

AC = Alternating Current.

Active Matrix: = A Grid or Matrix of LEDs controlled to turn on and off as needed, so as to make letters and graphic patterns.

DC = Direct Current.

DIP = Dual Inline Plug - A component that has two or more leads that pass through holes to solder under the circuit board.

LED / L.E.D. = Light Emitting Diode. -A solid state electronic component that emits Light as electrical current flows through it.

PCB = Printed Circuit Board - The surface and copper tracks that electronic components are soldered to.

SMD = Surface Mounted Device - A component soldered directly to the circuit board as opposed to the traditional mounting using leads that pass through holes to solder under the circuit board.

V = Volt(s) a measure of Electrical Force.

W = Watt(s) a measure of Power.
